Commit to pray for Chicago’s First Responders for 15 minutes a day. This page will be updated with new prayer points provided by local healthcare professionals and others as they work on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis.

If you are a First Responder, please let us know how we can be praying for you by submitting requests below.

We’d like to invite you to join us in a deeper expression of prayerful engagement in this citywide perpetual prayer initiative. As we gather as the collective Body of Christ, it is our hope to establish a 24/7 Prayer Watch in Chicago, with Churches and Ministries taking an hour prayer slot (or more) each week.

Sign your church up to do at least one hour of prayer each week, (or add your church’s current weekly prayer meeting). You will then receive a follow up email giving you greater detail.

First Responders Prayer

  • Please continue to pray for the families of loved ones in the hospital due to the “no visitor policy”. Pray for those who are separated and in the hospital during this time. Pray for the strength of health care workers who have a greater responsibility to support those separated and dying mostly alone.
  • Please continue to pray for an increase of divine protection over nurses, respiratory therapists, nurse aides and cleaning crew as they are the most vulnerable to COVID-19.
  • Please pray for the highly vulnerable nursing homes, senior care centers, home health workers and their patients. Pray for wisdom, healing and recovery, and for their continued protection.
  • Please pray for God’s grace to increase on all hospital staff and health care workers who have been living apart from their families to protect them from COVID-19. Many are now returning home.
  • Please continue to pray diligently for the protection of our CPD on the front lines in Chicago as summer arrives, the quarantine is lifted and especially in light of the recent protests and rioting. Pray that they will have the mind of Christ in every situation.
  • Please continue to pray that the Lord would release protection from COVID-19 and for the health of every Firefighter, EMT worker, and Chicago Police Officer especially as they are working much longer shifts and dealing with unrest all over the city and in the suburbs.
  • Pray for an extra measure of God’s grace and wisdom as they respond to all of the other emergencies around the city, as well as COVID-19 emergencies.
  • Please pray that the Lord would use this season to bridge the gap in neighborhoods between the CPD and residents.  Pray that there would be a great increase of cooperation and involvement by those who live in every neighborhood of Chicago, with Block Clubs, CAPS etc.

That the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes
of your understanding being enlightened; that you may KNOW [experience] what is the hope of His calling
[assurance/clarity of God’s call for our life], what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints [our
destiny as Jesus’ inheritance], and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe,
according to the working of His mighty power… (Eph. 1:17-19)

The Church of Chicago

  • Please pray for the Church of Chicago to have the mind of Christ right now and to hear Him clearly in responding to the upheaval and chaos over the weekend.
  • Pray that the prophetic and timely Word of the Lord would be released to the Church in this hour.
  • Please pray that the Church of Jesus Christ would arise during this time and be the burning and shining lamps of hope in our city.
  • Pray for Peace Campaigns to flood our neighborhoods and that the Church would use their God-given authority to bind the enemy in our city and loose the glory of the Lord in partnership with Jesus in this hour.
  • Pray for this moment to spur the Church on into a season of repentance, supernatural healing and racial alignment.
  • Please pray that the Church of Chicago would MODEL servant leadership, racial healing, reconciliation and alignment in our churches and communities.
  • Pray for systemic change to take place IN the Church of Jesus Christ.
  • Please pray for a Spirit of violent PRAYER to be released on believers throughout Chicagoland.  That the deep groaning of intercession would rise to heaven in this hour, to bring a lasting shift in the spiritual atmosphere over our city.

That you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may
have a walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the
knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and
longsuffering with joy… (Col. 1:9-11)

  • Please pray for CPD, CAPS & Block Clubs around the city to find effective ways to remain involved and reach into their hurting neighborhoods during the challenges we are facing as a city right now.
  • Please pray for an increase of angelic protection around churches, businesses, government buildings and public recreation spaces in the Chicagoland area.
  • Pray for the church leaders in every neighborhood to have wisdom as they navigate through this tragedy of looting and rioting in their communities.
  • Pray that the Church would release a clarion call to prayer and racial healing in our city.
  • Pray for Mayor Lightfoot and Church Leaders to come to a peaceful resolution in dealing with the events over the weekend. Pray for a spirit of cooperation as decisions need to be made by all parties.
  • Pray for a spirit of wisdom and unity to be released to all in the Chicagoland area, who are actively picking up the pieces in their broken and hurting communities.  Pray for a spirit of cooperation to be over everyone as we still need to practice social distancing in public spaces.
  • Please pray for the salvation of business owners and restaurants owners, that they would put their trust in the Lord as their businesses and restaurants face the threat of going out of business even more with their inventory being stolen over the weekend.
  • Please pray that COVID-19 cases would still continue to decrease in greater measure even after the highly crowded public protests.

That your love may abound still more and more in knowledge [of God] and all discernment, that you may
approve [rejoice in] the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere [no compromise] and without offense
till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness… (Phil. 1:9-11)

We have expectant hearts that these 24/7 prayer initiatives will empower our intercession in an even greater way as we undergird this city with strategic intercession all year long and intercede for our First Responders.

Please be encouraged and emboldened in your prayer times as we agree in faith for the “prayer points” that will be posted on the CUIP website at the beginning of each month. Each prayer point is only a springboard into praying what the Lord gives you during your prayer times.

And will not God bring about justice for His chosen ones, who cry out to Him day and night? Will He keep putting them off?  I tell you, He will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?”

– Luke 18:7-8
