When the weather warms in Chicagoland, too often violence increases. CPD data shows that most violence takes place on the weekends in the middle of the night.
Prayer & Action
As followers of Jesus, we want to be both praying for peace and faithfully present in our communities, seeking to make peace happen. Many coalitions of churches are continuing to organize prayer and positive presence in their communities, and we want to encourage more churches to be involved this year.
LAST YEAR
Last summer, we rallied united prayer in over 61 locations in the night, and in the daytime. Thousands of people participated in prayer, outside of their church buildings, in strategic locations, together.
THIS YEAR
On Memorial Day Weekend, Hands Across Chicago is happening again. United prayer will be taking place in strategic locations in each of Chicago’s 22 police districts. We invite you to choose a location where you might be able to have ongoing, faithful presence in some way throughout the summer.

How will the united prayer times work?
We’ve created these simple outlines for the ‘unifying moments’ of prayer at Midnight and Noon. Join in prayer with others across the city, and then pray with those gathered in your location for the specific needs of that community. There will be a prayer host at each location.

PRAY Midnight Prayer
Heavenly Father, we come together to arise and cry out to You during the night watch. We pour out our hearts to You on behalf of this place, and the city of Chicago. We agree with Your word and partner with You to work for shalom here. We ask that You would release a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Your Son, Jesus Christ, all over this city. We ask that you would open the eyes of men, women, and children—that they would know the hope of Your calling on their lives. Tonight, we stand united and declare that the night belongs to our God. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Heavenly Father, we humbly come before You and ask that you would release the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Your Son, Jesus Christ, in Chicago. We ask that Your power would be manifested in believers in this city—that they would be filled with supernatural joy, peace, and hope. Lord, we ask that You would cause every heart to be awakened to Your love and that love would abound in Chicago. We ask for peace and health in this place and in each neighborhood across the city. Today, we stand united and declare that the day belongs to our God. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
