Hands Across Chicago is an annual city-wide united prayer event hosted on Memorial Day weekend.

As the weather warms up in Chicago, often violence does as well. We want to see the Church responding with prayer and positive presence—we can be a part of making peace happen.

In 2018, Hands Across Chicago united us in prayer, all the way down Halsted Street and across Madison Avenue.

In 2019, over 61 locations hosted prayer in strategic places during the night, and in the day.

This year, in keeping with social distancing guidelines, we invite you to pray across Chicago in a different way…

Join us on Fri, May 22, from 8-9:30pm for a virtual prayer tour of Chicago as local leaders guide our prayers from strategic locations in all 22 police districts and several suburban locations.

Ways to Participate

  • Pray along with us from wherever you are on Chicagoland United in Prayer’s Facebook page, and add your prayer in the social chat.
  • Share your prayer and photos on social media with #HandsAcrossChicago.
  • Stand outside to pray in a strategic location in your community.
  • Pray with a few other people (2-5) while following appropriate social-distancing recommendations. We are not organizing any large gatherings of people this year.
  • Spread the word! All are welcome to participate.

Saturday Noon Family Prayer

Here's a prayer you can pray with your family that will also be prayed live on our Facebook page on Saturday, May 23, at Noon.

Heavenly Father, we humbly come before You as a family and ask that you would release the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Your Son, Jesus Christ, in Chicago. We ask that Your power would be manifested in believers in this city—that they would be filled with supernatural joy, peace, and hope. Lord, we ask that You would cause every heart to be awakened to Your love and that love would abound in Chicago. We ask for peace and health in this place and in each neighborhood across the city. Today, we stand united and declare that the summer belongs to our God. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Past Years

United Prayer & Action

May 24 & 25, 2019

For the 2019 edition of Hands Across Chicago, we rallied churches to host united prayer and positive community presence in each of Chicago’s 22 police districts. Local pastors and leaders worked together with each other and their district leaders to choose strategic locations where people of faith would host prayer and positive loitering in public spaces.

61 locations hosted prayer over the first 24 hours of the Memorial Day weekend in a beautiful display of unity and partnership. See more photos below.

United Prayer for Peace

July 14, 2018

For the 2018 edition of Hands Across Chicago, we rallied churches to host united prayer and positive community presence from the North to South of Chicago, along Halsted St, and from the East to West of the city, along Madison Ave. Local pastors and leaders hosted prayer corners and invited others to join in prayer.

Dozens of corners hosted simultaneous prayer at Noon on Saturday, July 14, 2018 in a unique display of unity and partnership. See more photos below.
